Training You Can Adopt to Discover How to Increase Your Short Term Memory

You understand that you should exercise to keep your body in good shape, but do you recognize that you should also do some exercises for your brain to keep your brain in good shape? Your brain is like a muscle and it needs to be stretched once in awhile so that you can stay as sharp as possible. One of the ways you can work your brain is to complete a short-term memory exercise or two. Short-term memory is what we utilize to hold onto information for just a short time. A few examples of information we utilize short-term memory for include names of animals, and so on. Short-term memory is called this because once we have it we lose it. This release allows our minds to remain open to absorb more information so that it is not all mixed up with useless nonsense. By doing activities for short-term memory, however, we can improve the amount of information we are able to hold in our short-term memories and we can even increase the time in which it stays in your head.
The Picture Game – Peek A Boo
A great exercise for short-term memory [improvement|} is a game where you look at a picture. This can be whichever picture you want. It can be one you select from a newspaper, it can be one of you and your friends at a gathering; it could be anything you like. Glance at the picture for a few moments and then cover it up. Using a pencil and paper, try to write down all the details you can regarding that picture. Then, look at the photo again. Were you able to get everything right? Did you get a few details incorrect? By completing this exercise again and again, you are working your short-term memory and this will improve your ability to hold data. This is a fun exercise for developing your short-term memory and it’s one everyone can enjoy. Yes it is even great for improving children’s short term memory.
Audio Exercises
Just like the picture exercise, you canuse audio clips to help exercise your short-term memory. Again you can use whatever you like. You can use something like a top ten countdown on the radio, you can make use of talk radio, whatever you like. Keep in mind to be sure you are able to whatever you’re listening to then you can go back and check your work. Attempt to recall all the facts you can by writing them on a piece of paper after the piece is done. Then, rewind and see how many facts you got right. By repeating again and again, you can improve your short-term memory power and this will increase your ability to retain things you hear.
