Yaz Birth Control Ads Pulled by Food and Drug Administration

February 1, 2010

Bayer received a warning letter from the Food & Drug Administration about their advertising of Yaz Birth Control as an acne medication.

Birth control medication, including YAZ, Yasmin, or Ocella, regulate hormones from inside the human body. Hormones are basically chemical indicators, substances discharged by 1 cell or cluster of cells to affect some other cell or group of cells in a new section of the body. This regulation of hormones, either internally through the human brain or externally through the use of medication or different chemical channels, has profound effects on the body.

Examination into acne breakout has found it could be a result of numerous factors, however hormone levels are critical. A rush of testosterone is the reason for during one of the most common time of acne outbreak in men and women: adolescence. Regulation of hormones may well, in some cases, lead to the regulation of pimples. Bayer took this possibility and ran with it.

While it was correct that at the time of the adverts Yaz was periodically used to treat acne, the FDA stated how the advertising employed by Bayer implied that Yaz was proper for the broad treatment of standard complexion problems.

In the Commercial, Balloons, a woman with evidently clean skin smiles and acknowledges the “breakout” balloon as it floats from the middle of the display screen and vanishes into the sky, together with, the background tune and an audio claim. The intensified effect conveyed by the TV Ads is the fact that therapy with YAZ leads to clean, pimple- free pores for those female struggling with acne even when this has not been shown by significant facts or extensive clinical experience.

Perhaps one of the most powerful and influencing data on Yaz and cystic acne comes from personalized testimonials and reviews(both good and negative) from females who’ve used Yaz. These are readily available on the web. Yaz Lawyers have noticed some ladies find that using Yaz accelerates their acne, in some instances amazingly so. Other women may see spots decrease after starting Yaz. There’s still no tested method to anticipate what person will experience what (if any) impact on her acne by taking Yaz.
